What information is included on a public divorce record?

The term "public divorce record" is a bit of a misnomer. While these records are open to the public, they do not contain every single detail about a divorce. The information included in public divorce records can vary by state. However, in most cases, you can expect to see the names of the spouses, the date that they were married, the date of their separation, and the date that their divorce was finalized. You may also be able to find information about other proceedings related to the divorce, including any property settlements or custody arrangements. Court proceedings related to a divorce are often available online as well, allowing you to read all of the paperwork filed during the proceedings.
